ILW 2015 – Day 5: Fun on Friday

An exciting Friday evening awaits! Here’s a run-down of events running late on Friday, with many showcasing creations produced throughout the week.

Innovative Learning Week 2015 Fair

Held in the University of Edinburgh Main Library between 16:30 and 18:30, creations produced throughout the week will be showcased with many of the creators on hand to answer any questions you may have. Things to expect include sculptures, machines, photos and videos. Wine will be provided so no excuse not to come! After this, we will move to the Library Bar in Teviot Row House (Bristo Square)

‘The Ghosts in Our Machines’: the Compelling Story of Photography, Journalism and Our Relationship with Animals

Humans have always had a close relationship with animals, many of us incorporating them as part of our families (such as cats and dogs). Between 18:00 and 21:00 in the Chaplaincy Auditorium will be an exciting exploration of photography, journalism, activism, and social change. After the screening of ‘The Ghosts in Our Machines’ a wildlife photography guest speaker will give an exciting short talk, followed by a discussion.

Fringe Abridged

The Blind Poet (just off from Bristo Square, next to the Pear Tree) will host ‘The Loud Poets’ (between 20:00 and 22:00): a student run festival of comedy, storytelling, movies, and poetry around Edinburgh. A five star Fringe show for all walks of life, young or old, poetry fans or not, you will not want to miss them! A display of slam-style, make some noise, fist-thumping, side-tickling and heart-wrenching poetry. This is poetry for the masses. This is the spoken word revolution.

Elementary my dear detective!

If you’re after a fun, quirky and engaging act, then look no further than the opportunity to see Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson immerse you into the world of formal argumentation, as you solve a real mystery. Running between 17:00 and 20:00 this is one not to miss!

The Dionysia 2015

Back for yet another year due to overwhelming popularity, it’s bigger and even more classical than before! Join us for a multi-society, classically themed theatrical showdown of epic proportions – may the best company win! Held in the Bedlam Theatre between 12:00 and 20:00.
